Your Schedule... Your Career... Your Life
The iSchool recognizes that successful information professionals come from all walks of life and that prospective students are not always able to move to Pittsburgh to pursue their degree. Therefore, we have partnered with Pitt Online to offer an MLIS program that permits you to earn the degree while remaining at home and in your current job. This 36-credit program can be completed online (with minimal on-campus requirements) within two years. Your program of study will provide you with the same foundational knowledge and practical skills as our ALA-accredited on-campus MLIS degree program.
The iSchool has offered an online MLIS degree program for more than a decade: more than 400 students from 35+ states have graduated and found satisfying careers in the information professions. The University of Pittsburgh is nationally-recognized for the quality of its graduate professional programs. Through Pitt Online, those same high quality programs are being made available to qualified individuals without regard to geography. Support services have been carefully designed to provide an excellent learning environment through carefully conceived virtual access to the University’s comprehensive digital library, to a wide range of instructional materials, and to advising.
