iFest 2015 Schedule

Design-a-thon Challenge

Monday, February 2, 2015 | 3:00PM – 5:00PM

Modeled after popular ‘hackathon’ sessions, students will be presented with a challenge and/or case study and given a limited amount of time to design and present a viable solution. This event will focus on real-life challenges faced by iSchool industry partners.

PhD Research Poster Competition

Tuesday, February 3, 2015 | 4:00PM – 6:00PM

iSchool PhD students will present their latest research endeavors and collaborative projects with faculty. Industry partners are welcome to attend and network with doctoral students.

Information Executive Roundtable

Wednesday, February 4, 2015 | 12:00PM – 2:00PM

Information executives will meet over lunch with a select group of top-performing students to discuss employment opportunities, strategies for career preparation, practical work experience, and the ‘soft’ skills necessary for success as a leader in the information field. This event is an excellent opportunity for employers and students to network in an informal, small-group setting. In 2013, 30 students were selected to participate in this event.

Career & Internship Expo

Thursday, February 5, 2015 | 4:00PM – 7:00PM

The Expo is open to employers in technical and non-technical industries. This event will be exclusively reserved for iSchool undergraduate and graduate students, majoring in Information Sciences, Library & Information Sciences, and Telecommunications & Networking. In 2013, 160 iSchool students participated.

TEC Conference (Technology. Entrepreneurship. Creativity.)

Friday, February 6, 2015 | 9:00AM – 5:00PM

The second annual TEC Conference will showcase exciting speakers from across the country and engage the iSchool community to share knowledge and ideas. Presentations will focus on the interdisciplinary connections between people, information, and technology.

Professional Development Day

Saturday, February 7, 2015 | 8:30AM – 12:00PM

Professional Development Day begins with a career workshop, followed by one-on-one mock interviews. iSchool students  are matched with alumni volunteers and participate in a 30-minute session.
